Hansa Meyer Global Brazil wins Heavy Duty 2019 Award

Brazil, Sao Paulo/Bremen, 06. November 2019: The international transport and logistics company Hansa Meyer Global received the Heavy Duty 2019 Award in the Mining category with its Brazilian branch “Hansa Meyer Brasil”. Crane Brazil Magazine honors the outstanding transport of equipment from the port of Santos to the AngloGold Ashanti Cuiabá Mine in Sabará, Minas Gerais State. This final site is approximately 760 kilometres far from the port of Entry and the operation was completed within 33 days.

The subject of the transport was a dry stacking filter with a length of ten meters, a height of four meters, a width of almost six meters and 48 tons of weight. The route led through the historic city of Caeté, where all electricity and communication wiring had to be lifted to ensure the oversized transport. Another challenge was passing unpaved roads through the mountains, before running the last few miles to the mine over the highway. The project manager in charge, Julio Fernandes explains: “This project required more than four months of planning. Our goal was to safely carry out the transport with as little impact as possible on the cities, villages and communities through which the cargo would travel. Thanks to our team with many years of experience in special cargo operations and the support of all those involved in the process, we achieved a smooth transport with zero complaints. ”

Behind the project lies the excellent work of the Brazilian team, in particular Julio Fernandes and Ricardo Teixeira, head of Haulage and Rigging Division.
